What is qois?
Located in the heart of the Neuchâtel Jura, Qois is a manufacturer of wooden boxes and accessories. From simple cubic boxes to luxury watch cases, we produce all types of storage solutions to protect and showcase your favorite items.
We strive to develop ideas that combine utility with aesthetics. Respect for materials and durability are the values that inspire us to create robust and elegant products. Our creations are sturdy and designed to last, with all components being repairable or replaceable.
Qois exclusively uses local materials, and whenever possible, recycled ones. The wood comes solely from Swiss forests, and we also repurpose old furniture or reclaimed wood. We prioritize short supply chains and a slowed consumption mode, emphasizing quality over quantity.
After completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Lausanne, I continued my studies at the Wood School in Biel/Bienne to become an engineer. Following that, I worked for about ten years in the furniture industry and the design of products, ranging from acoustics to lutherie (the crafting of stringed instruments).
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of witnessing the evolution of wood product manufacturing. Despite the growing popularity of digital machinery, I remain convinced that wood retains its unique character and requires skilled hands to shape it accurately. I always strive to imbue each of my actions and movements with meaning, allowing my creativity to enhance this raw material.
